Raj was born and raised in Massachusetts. At a young age he was leisurely introduced to glass paperweights. His childhood memories are flooded with visions of colorful, fun and functional art. His visual fascination left a lasting imprint. In the latter part of Raj’s schooling, he was exposed to the contemporary flameworking movement; furthering his glass fascination and education. While attending UMASS a new world of glass opened up and Raj was able to apprentice and work with some incredible flameworkers. By 2002, he abandoned his Forestry career and began to work full time as a glass artist. He established his own studio in 2004. Raj’s focus is primarily on marbles and paperweights. He has been published in “The Encyclopedia of Modern Marbles, Spheres & Orbs” and in the magazine Glass Line. His works often draw you in and leave you wondering how on Earth he can create them. Truly a sight to behold and cherish.
